Virgin Atlantic Launches Seattle Service

Seattle, United States – Virgin Atlantic Airways, British full-cost and luxury air carrier launched its new service from its London Heathrow base to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport on March 26, 2017. A Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner will operate the route on behalf of Delta Air Lines, who owns a forty-nine percent stake in Virgin Atlantic Airways. Delta Air Lines’ previous service was operated by a slightly smaller Boeing 767-300ER on a daily frequency.

The new Virgin Atlantic flight will offer a Premium Economy cabin as well as 50 additional seats that previously were not offered on the Delta Air Lines operated route.

The service kicked off the following day with Virgin Atlantic Founder and President Richard Branson and Virgin Atlantic Chief Executive Officer Craig Kreeger in attendance.

Virgin Atlantic Chief Executive Officer Craig Kreeger said in a news release, “as the home of Boeing, it only seems right to fly our newest, most fuel efficient aircraft, the Boeing 787-9 on the London to Seattle route. With wifi, mood lighting, onboard bar and top of the range inflight entertainment whether travelling for leisure or business, we know our customers love to fly on this high tech aircraft.”

Virgin Atlantic is the latest carrier to launch service to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport after a string of airlines announced service in the past few months. The next airline expected to land at the nation’s fastest growing airport will be Eurowings, who will launch service from Cologne/Bonn with Airbus A330-200s on July 11, 2017.
