Munich, Germany – Germany’s largest airline, Lufthansa, has launched long-haul, international service utilizing their newly acquired Airbus A350-900 aircraft. Lufthansa operated flight LH762 from Munich’s Franz Josef Strauss International Airport to New Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport with an inaugural seat load factor of 90%. The flight departed Munich, on time, at 12:30pm CET and completed its long-haul flight to New Delhi four minutes early at 12:04am IST.

Lufthansa promotes its new Airbus A350-900 as “the world’s most modern and environmentally friendly long-haul aircraft.” This makes the Airbus A350-900 a viable and smart replacement to its aging fleet of Airbus A340-300s and Airbus A340-600s it is intended to succeed.
The previous day, Lufthansa launched its Airbus A350-900 on its first commercial service, flying the aircraft on a round-trip between Munich and Hamburg, which is host to Airbus’ Finkenwerder plant. Lufthansa’s first Airbus A350-900 is the first of 25 of the type for the German carrier. The next expected destination for the Lufthansa Airbus A350-900 to debut is Boston, which will begin in March. The Boston-Munich route will replace the current service, which utilizes Airbus A330-300 and Airbus A340-600 aircraft.
